Rebond Pad
Rebond pad is made from 100% post-industrial waste by combining shredded pieces of recycled urethane foam. The rebond pad manufacturing process recycles approximately 15 million pounds of scrap foam rubber per month. The standard pad offered with all carpets in Premier's builder program is 6 lb. rebond. Mohawk SmartStrand with DuPont Sorona®
Builders and homebuyers are becoming increasingly interested in floor covering products made from sustainable sources. Mohawk's SmartStrand® carpet, available through Premier, is one of the leading sustainable fiber carpet products. DuPont and Mohawk have partnered to develop carpeting products made from agricultural-based fibers. Greenhouse gas emissions from the production of Sorona are 63% lower than nylon manufacturing. This energy reduction results in approximately one less gallon of gasoline entering the environment per every seven square yards of SmartStrand carpet. For more information, see:

Hardwood
Hardwood is a renewable resource with a longer life expectancy than any soft surface flooring. All solid hardwood is also recyclable. In addition to a large selection of solid hardwood floors, Premier also offers floors made from fast-growing bamboo and eucalyptus.
Solid hardwood finishes can last up to 25 years, and can be refinished up to 3 times. Keeping the same floor for many years means that fewer discarded materials will go to landfills, and fewer resources will be consumed in the production of new floors.
Natural Bamboo
Bamboo is a highly sustainable and renewable flooring product. Bamboo is ready to be harvested for flooring use after only five years of growth. After being harvested, the roots of the bamboo grass are kept intact so that the plants are able to continue growing to be harvested again. Additionally, bamboo flooring is a low-VOC product, which improves indoor air quality. For more information on specific bamboo products offered through Premier, click here.

Natural Cork
Natural cork is made from the bark of the cork oak tree. When the bark is harvested, the tree remains alive. This process can be repeated every nine to eleven years until the tree itself expires. Cork contains no VOCs and will not shed fibers, improving indoor air quality. In addition to being naturally sustaining and renewable, many cork flooring products are made from cork waste from other industries such as bottle stopper manufacturers. Ceramic Tile
Ceramic tile is made from natural materials such as clay and talc that are in plentiful supply. Ceramic tile production creates almost no waste materials. With proper installation, ceramic has a life expectancy superior to all other flooring materials. Keeping the same floor for many years means that fewer discarded materials will go to landfills, and fewer resources will be consumed in the production of new floors.
Carpet Tile
Mohawk's Encycle carpet tile is made from 35% pre-consumer recycled content. It is 100% PVC free, and is the only carpet tile that can be completely recycled back into itself. For more information, please view:
